This is a quick overview of how the portrait process works.
For current pricing, more specific questions, and additional
information about me, please view the frequently
asked questions,
pricing, and biography sections.
Once you contact me to commission a portrait, we’ll
schedule a photo shoot at your residence or a place your animal
is comfortable. Setting is an important part of the portrait.
I insist on working from my own photos because I’ve found
that it usually makes for a better painting. I also believe
it’s important for me to get a chance to meet you and
your pet. Under certain circumstances, I understand your
photos may be the only option, and sometimes these work fine.
After the shoot, we will pick the best digital photos from
the various poses and settings explored and plan the direction
of the painting. A 50% deposit is due at this time.
When the painting is nearly complete, you will be emailed
a proof to inspect and critique. If you have any suggestions
or corrections, I’ll make the necessary changes and email
you another proof. Once you’ve approved the painting
and it is completely dry, it will be delivered and the
remaining 50% of the balance is due. Unless otherwise requested,
all paintings are oil on canvas.
